Over the summer I started to become really interested in different Podcasts. It was something that I found I could put on and listen to all of the time. They are super easy to listen to and there are so many to choose from that it feels like something new each time.
Some of my favorite Podcasts are Crime Junkie and Park Predators. These are both true crime Podcasts where each episode is a new case and always different from the last. Crime Junkie is all about true crime stories without really any specific reasons behind why they choose the stories that they do. I really enjoy this true crime podcast because they don’t make it just about the crime and the story. They really emphasize the fact that they want people to be aware of the kind of things that can happen, and they want to use the platform that they created to make a difference. Something that they do in every episode is give resources to where people can reach out and leave tips in order to help bring justice to the people they talk about in their episodes. Park Predators is a similar Podcast that I actually found through Crime Junkie. It talks about cases that happen specifically in National Parks and follow similar content of Crime Junkie.
Some other Podcasts that I have enjoyed are Dr. Death and The Retrievals. Dr. Death is about a neurosurgeon, Christopher Duntsch, based in Texas who botched almost all of his surgeries. It goes into what happened and the system that should have protected the patients that were affected by Dr. Duntsch. The other Podcast, The Retrievals, dives into shocking events that occurred at a fertility clinic at Yale. This grabbed my attention immediately and made me feel the emotions of those involved because of how the host interviewed some of the actual women that were a part of this scandal.
Podcasts are a great way to learn about new things, but also good to just have playing in the background.
